Pumpkin Pie

 

Pumpkin pie is a true fall classic, smooth, spiced, and perfectly comforting. Made with sweet sugar pumpkin puree and a touch of warm spices. Whether you enjoy it with a dollop of whipped cream or just as it is, homemade pumpkin pie is one of the simplest ways to capture the flavours of the season.


Ingredients:

  • Filling:

  • 1 ½ cups pumpkin puree

  • 1-tablespoon flour

  • 1-cup sugar

  • 1-teaspoon ginger

  • 1-teaspoon cinnamon

  • ½ teaspoon nutmeg

  • ¼ teaspoon of mace

  • ¼ teaspoon salt

  • 3 eggs lightly beaten

  • ½ cup milk

    Note: 2 3/4 teaspoons of pumpkin pie spice can be used as a substitute for the spices listed in this recipe.


Instructions:

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the pumpkin puree, flour, and sugar. Stir until smooth.

  2. Add the spices and mix well to evenly distribute.

  3. Lightly beat the eggs and milk in a separate small bowl, then add them to the pumpkin mixture and stir until fully incorporated.

  4. Pour the filling into your prepared pie crust, spreading it evenly.

    Note: Use either your favourite pie crust recipe, one bought from the store or tart shells.

  5. Bake at 350°F for 1 hour or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. For tarts, bake for 35-45 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
